Brian's professional musical career started when he was just 18 and was asked to orchestrate and record Stephen Sondheim's West-coast premiere of Assassins
for Theater Works in Arizona. He went onto orchestrate Chicago, Oklahoma, West Side Story, Guys and Dolls
and many more.
During college, Brian and lyricist, Todd Yard, were personally invited to the ASCAP/Disney Musical Theater Workshop by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Children of Eden, Godspell). There, they were able to connect with Mr. Schwartz on their animated musical pitch to Disney, Theseus.
Brian has since composed scores and songs to the original musicals and live stage productions of Theseus, The Brand New Yorkers, Guv: The Musical, Tribe, The Word from Miracle Valley,
and his latest work, Decided, which he wrote the book, lyrics, songs, as well as directed and orchestrated the piece for its premiere at Musical Theatre of Anthem. He has also composed the scores for the original modern dance pieces 'til death do us part, The Living Room Project
and The Cheese Stands Alone
with A Ludwig Dance Theatre. Brian is active again at Theater Works, working on a new play with music set to debut in 2024 and has produced scores to their original puppet productions including Desert Adventures. Brian also contributed music to Theater Works' nationally recognized theatrical experience, Curiouser & Curiouser Too
by Chris Hamby.
One of Brian's greatest joys was serving as staff composer for The Phoenix Theatre Company's Cookie Company, creating professional and award-winning original family musicals with playwright Alan Prewitt (The Quiltmaker's Gift) and lyricist Michael Barnard (former Senior Show Director for the Disneyland Resort). Brian wrote the score and songs for new tellings of The Girl Who Saved the Sun, Chicken Little's Big Idea, The Sword in the Stone, Aesop's Fables, Alice in Wonderland, Treasure Island
and Robin Hood
as well as the educational series and touring productions of Professor Flabberflaps Actual Factual Magnetic Gathertorium, Taking the Wrath Out of Math
and There's Something In My Kitchen.
